Grandview Children’s Centre offers a range of services to hundreds of children and young adults with physical and communication disabilities who live in the Durham Region. Our family-centered approach emphasizes collaboration with parents, community agencies, educators and physicians. Among the services offered are:
Medical Services
Medical specialists at Grandview offer consultation, assessment and diagnosis services and they advocate for the provision of medical services as needed. Grandview’s medical specialists DO NOT provide primary care. Instead, they work closely with your family physician.

Audiology
Audiology involves testing a child’s hearing, monitoring any middle ear problems, and prescribing hearing aids and other listening devices. Using Grandview’s advanced equipment, our staff are able to assess the hearing of even the youngest infants.

Speech-Language Pathology
Speech-Language Pathology helps children with speech and language difficulties such as sound production, understanding and use of language (words, gestures, pictures, symbols), feeding, voice and fluency.
|
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy helps with the development of both fine and gross motor skills such as drawing, cutting and play skills; activities of daily living, like feeding, dressing, toileting; and the prescribing of assistive devices.
|
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy helps with a child’s development of movement skills such as crawling, sitting or walking and involves the prescribing of assistive devices.
|
Family Support Services
Counseling services and support groups are available to help children and their families cope with social and emotional difficulties, particularly those related to the stress and demands of having a child with special needs.
