Grandview hosts Blind-Low Vision "Swim Meet"
On Saturday, May 26, as part of the contribution of Grandview Children's Centre to the Tri-Regional Blind-Low Vision Program, the first-ever Blind-Low Vision "Swim Meet" was hosted by Family Support Services in the therapy pool at Grandview's Oshawa site.
Sal Lassenza, Early Childhood Vision Consultant from the Ontario Foundation for Visually Impaired Children, worked with Stephanie Stoddard and Steve Kirk, Social Workers, to facilitate the event.
Five families, including siblings and parents, enjoyed an afternoon of splashing and playing while getting to know one another.
The primary goal of the activity was to bring families together who have children with similar diagnoses to share information with each other, and to socialize. Judging by the volume of the turnout - and the requests for repeat "Swim Meets" - it appears that the event was a great success!
